How STRIDE works:

Works with each family to develop an individual plan
to become independent - based on their skills, interests and
experience

Provides a trained and experienced case manager to
support the family while they complete their plan

Family characteristics:
-
More than 90% of supported families are single parents
- more than half were married but are now divorced

Only 35% of the single parents receive child support
-
Families average 2.3 children; all families have at
least one child

About 65% were receiving cash welfare assistance at
intake; and remainder are working, but are low income
