The mantra for MDRF is "Improving our Communities...one family at a time ". In keeping with that theme, MDRF asked themselves what could be done that would not only impact a family, but measure up to the MDRF mission statement, which is to contribute to community improvement.

Of course, there is the idea that we want it to be a "heartstring" that touches the hearts of each and every one of us, community wide. So we looked at the biggest picture possible and said, "Children are our Future". That being the case, how do we have a hand in making a difference in a child's life and give back to the community at the same time? Education! Education! Education! Thus was born the idea of Backpacks for Kids.

We have an ambitious goal ... provide backpacks for 2000 needy children. Not only that, we will fill the backpacks with the necessary school supplies in the Fall and in the Spring so the children will have the tools to be productive.

Part of the proceeds from the Annual Golf Classic will be funneled to this project.
However, if you wish to sponsor a backpack (or 2 or 3!) , the cost of sponsorship of each backpack is $45.00.

The Golf Tournament also helped launch a new MDRF program, Backpacks for Kids.

What a difference you can make to a child and to each family who just does not have the funds to adequately supply their children with school supplies.
